Thursday and Friday, January 5th and 6th

Thursday: Students will need their IAN (Interactive Notebook) today to include the RACE handouts. RACE is a method for writing constructed/extended responses. (Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain) Students will take a pre-test over figurative language. We will begin reading chapters 1-2 of “Number the Stars.”

Friday:  Read chapter 3 of “Number the Stars.” Students will need their IAN (Interactive Notebook) today as we are adding a figurative language foldable and taking notes in it.

I’m excited to welcome back our 6th grade students. This quarter we will be reading “Number the Stars” and “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. Students are encouraged to buy their own copy of the book, but it is not required. We will also be studying figurative language and poetry in this 3rd Unit.
